A very successful Palestine solidarity event, with over 100 attendees took place in London on Saturday 12th October. The event, supported by York PSC was to promote Palestine as a core issue for UK trade unions and its members. The National PSC team and 12 unions including the trades union congress (TUC) undertook seminars and discussions on ways to build solidarity. This focused on supporting Palestinian collective rights and developing tools to further the activities to sustain pressure on improving Palestinians human rights.
The 3 seminars were: Increasing Palestinian workers solidarity with the UK trade unions and its members; Effectively promoting and implementing BDS policy: Understanding Israeli apartheid and making the case for Palestinian rights.
Key speakers included: Dr Mustafa Barghouti, general secretary of the Palestinian National Initiative; Samia AlBotmeh, asst professor from Birzeit university Jerusalem; Professor Kamel Hawwash / Louise Regan / Huda Ammori / Ben Jamal and Christine Blower from PSC, together with many prominent trade union representatives and officials.
